Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire in Montreal's West Island is a tiny, quiet town. It is a part of the island that has been called "the West Island." West Island has a lot of different communities. For those who haven't been aware of it frequently think it is a separate island facing west. It is often cited as being the place of birth for Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay there was short. Brugel lived in Courtice near Oshawa Ontario. She wanted to become a professional dancer, but because of a huge increase in her height, she outgrew all of her dancing partners. The Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. She was recommended by a teacher getting a part in the school's annual play. The student tried it out, and eventually got the leading role for the role in Anne of Green Gables. It was the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned the Bachelors in Fine Arts in 2000. In the last 20 years, Brugel's roles on television and the big screen have been varied. Her role as Rita from the award winning show The Handmaid's Tale was her most notable. Brugel, the only Canadian on the Season 1 actors of the series and seen only occasionally, was the sole Canadian.
